***Official Ames/ISU Appreciation Thread***
I am in a good mood today, so let's try this. Share what you like best about Ames as a town and ISU.
Ames: the town revolves around the college, it is a pure college town, and 98% of the community realizes this. Without ISU, Ames would be nothing.
ISU: our campus is great. It's beautiful and is completely separated from the town.
What say you?

I am in a pretty good mood also. Probably because the construction in the other room of my office has finished and I don't have a pounding headache. Might be a little high from the paint fumes.
ISU: Loved the campus landscaping and how the campus is close together
Ames: I liked the size of the city. Not too small but not too big either.

Re: ***Official Ames/ISU Appreciation Thread***
Ames: It simply has a great vibe. The city doesn't try to be anything it isn't, and people are really relaxed, welcoming, and friendly. There's an indefineable charm that you can't really appreciate until you experience it.
ISU: Gorgeous campus, and the student body/alumni are generally composed of hard-working, driven, and intelligent Midwestern folks.

I love the beautiful campus and the fact that it is so separated from the town. The UW Madison is right downtown with major intersections right in the middle of campus, I really dislike that.
Ames is just a nice town in general.
I miss college :(

Ames: It's better than Lincoln.
ISU: It's better than UNL. Ames: Small town feel that is a true college town. I can get to one side or the other with ease. Withing 30-40min of a "Major" city like Des Moines. Great amenities and restaurants for its size.
ISU: GORGEOUS (and I'm not just talking about the women either). Everything is pretty much connected, safe, friendly, feels like a big family, sporting events are phenomenal.
Every time I talk about ISU/Ames/Iowa out here in Ohio my friends make fun of me, they truly don't know what they're missing.
My teams: (as of 2/27/13) Cleveland Browns: 5-11 - .313 Cleveland Indians: 68-94 - .421 Cleveland Cavs: 19-38 - .333 Iowa State Cyclones (FB): 6-7 - .462 9/22/18 & 9/7/19 Akron and Iowa State CAN'T WAIT! -

Re: ***Official Ames/ISU Appreciation Thread***
Basically what others have said.
ISU: Size of the campus. Being able to walk all the way across it in 15 minutes is pretty sweet. I liked the different dorm options, too.
Both: CyRide! Wanna get to class without walking thru all that snow? Take a bus! Wanna get home from the bar at 2am? Take a bus!
Ames: Size, businesses, close enough but not too close to DSM.

Re: ***Official Ames/ISU Appreciation Thread***
Others comments speak for myself as well. It's a near perfect college town. Although a good quality mall wouldn't hurt. ISU campus is beautiful especially central campus.
