Re:The Hobbit Now Three
I think there is enough content there for three, but if that's the case, the LOTR should have been about five.

Re: The Hobbit Now Three
It will be interesting to see how they can milk it to get to 3 films. Really excited for this though

Re:The Hobbit Now Three
Hopefully they go more in depth with the history of the ring and Middle Earth. There's definitely enough material with that to go to three.

When will the first movie be out?

Re: The Hobbit Now Three
I hear from my brother, who is a big fan, that they plan to go into the concurrent events happening in Middle Earth, which is quite a few: the white council assault on Dol Guldur (when Gandalf leaves the party before Mirkwood to go deal with the "Necromancer") and the history and prophecies surrounding Aragorn's birth and childhood, which was around this time.
To delve into these, Jackson's going to have to add quite a bit to what Tolkien originally wrote.

WAAAAAAAAHHHHOOOOOOO!!!!!
Long time LOTR nut...hooked on the books back in the 70's....and there is a ton of material in the appendices which is what they are going to draw from.
Now...if we can just get a 12 part mini-series on the The Silmarillion....my favorite of all Tolkien's works (a collection, actually, put together after his death that include all the origin stories of the elves, men and dwarves)...I can die happy!

Well you know he'll throw in some chick stuff.

Re: The Hobbit Now Three
They are going to use the 125(?) pages at the end of the Return of the King that gives a lot of background of history. This isn't all going to be from just the book The Hobbit.
I'm very excited about this!

Certainly there is no hunting like the hunting of man and those who have hunted armed men long enough and liked it, never really care for anything else thereafter. -

I would love the Silmarillion, but it would take more like a 5-year long series to do it justice.

Feanor and the War for the Silmarils, Beren and Luthien Tinuviel, and the trials and tribulation of Turin Turambar....those three stories alone are incredible material. And that's the tip of the iceberg.
