Re: Cyclone athlete sightings!
First week I was on campus I some how got into a game with some basketball players at the rec center. Stevie Johnson introduced me to his junk when he dunked on me on a fast break. Then we ended up having zoology 101 (or some intro to zoology) together 3 semesters in a row.

Re: Cyclone athlete sightings!
You took zoology 101 3 semesters in a row?

Re: Cyclone athlete sightings!
this thread is weird... they are people really no different than you and I. They just happen to be really good at sports.
Now if you saw Michael Jordan or something at an Ames Subway then i say post away

What happens here shouldn't affect your real life. If you cant take some internet fodder, you're probably doomed.

Please don't start pulling the "are you stupid?" card... But it's not just like he got fodder every once in awhile.... It was EVERY time he posted... As a Cyclone fan, I think he should have been welcome to voice his opinions on a Cyclone message board and not have people constantly nagging on him. If you don't like his opinions, block him... How simple is that?

How simple is that? Yeah. A Cyclone message board. How many of his "opinions" or threads started had the slightest thing to do with anything Cyclone?
Aside from CyBer, I think a lot of people get caught up in message boards and start to substitute them for real life interactions. Start a lot of threads to feel cool. Cause a little bit of controversy to feel important. I'm not saying that CyBer did this, its just not uncommon for people to live a double life online.

Threads like "Hot Pockets... discuss" or "Lean Cuisines... discuss" got old pretty quick. I don't mind if people have at topic to discuss, or come on here asking for an opinion on a tv/car/whatever, but it was the amount of threads per day that he spammed the site with that got people on his case. That and him kind of being a flat out **** to people that didn't share the same opinion as him.
Like I said, I didn't really have a problem with him, it's just my outside view of everything that went on.

I just felt like every post he made was dying for attention and his existence was purely for credits and rep. Just my opinion.

How simple is that? Kfitz, not trying to pound on you, so don't read this defensively, but there's a few thoughts I have:
First: with regard to getting fodder once in a while (or more): It happens to everyone on here, and this is not real life. I have (after some 'learning experiences') realized that when my blood pressure rises, I close the browser, put the computer down and either go to bed, or play with my son, or go get fresh with the wife, or do whatever. If it happened every time I got on here, I'd stop coming here. Yes, Cyber got a lot of it, but 2 things went into that...flooding the front page with inane threads, and RESPONDING TO IT. This place is like a grade school that way...if people know they'll get a rise out of you, they're going to push your buttons. It's not something we should be proud of, but it's a fact of life. I'll admit to still...once in a while...letting something get to me. But with CyBer, it seemed to be a regular occurrence, interspersed with a bunch of randomness..."hey, do you like taco's?" Followed by a tirade after someone got his dander up.
Secondly, the tirades turned into 'must win teh internets' with cyber. I was on the night of the most recent meltdown, and it was pages long, it seemed. Now, it takes two to tango, and the others aren't innocent either, but Cyber had a lot of those with a lot of folks.
And really, if you get worked up over something posted on a *mostly* anonymous message board, when it comes time for the real world, you're going to have problems. If Cyber held anything other than a entry level/not interact with others job at most companies and acted like he did here...he gone.
Lastly, tying the 'should be able to express his opinions' and 'block him if you don't like him' together: He was just as free to block the peeps who were immediately on him when he posted. I think I have one poster on the 'ignore' list. It's not even that he gets me mad, his posts just don't make any sense to me. They used to make me mad, but since I ignored him, I can still see each post, but I get the warning to proceed at my own risk. I think if I blocked everyone who made me mad and I ended up with a list a mile long, I'd either look in the mirror or decide that this isn't the right place for me. And a message board isn't the right place for everyone. It's at times crude, crass, argumentative, irreverent, and immature. And this is a more censored site than others. If you can't deal with those things, it's not for you.

There should be a thread where we can share our encounters and experiences with current and former Cyclone athletes, especially the more famous ones.
I've reached this conclusion because just an hour ago I walked into Fighting Burrito and saw four men's bball players: Chris Babb, Georges Niang, Naz Long, and a fourth, a smaller player who might've been Korie Lucious or possibly Kerwin Okuro; you'd think I could distinguish by their size, but they were all crammed into a booth, eating some relatively large items (for that place, seeing as I always just get a burrito.) Didn't really want to stare or snap pictures, anxiety disorder and all. Can't identify the fourth player for sure without current roster pics which aren't available on cyclones.com yet.
Geek out 'clones fans, and share your current experiences here! John Culberston watched me drop a deuce once. In mid-pinch I "felt" eyes on me and when I look up he's looking down laughing his butt off. Great guy other than he tried to kill his girlfriend or some such nonsense with a knife.
I had to read Lafester the TV guide once. And I'm pretty sure he stole my laundry money.
And to those who think its creepy, these guys are minor celebrities and its fun to see them outside of the sports fishtank. And yes, most are very fine gentlemen and would engage in a conversation.
I saw Rick Steves in Venice (earlier this year) and walked up and thanked him for his books. He was a d-bag.
Saw Debra Winger in a SeaTac shuttle train during her "dark" times.
Said hello to Reggie Miller in a gentlemens club when I used to live in Indianapolis.
Also had my picture taken with Jeff Grayer when he was in town playing the Pacers.
Its all fun!
