TV Repair?

I recently moved apartments in Ames and, long story short, my TV got hit by a random piece of furniture and the screen is cracked . The pixels and stuff inside as far as I can tell are not damaged, just the glass/plexiglass. However, it does make a loud buzzing noise when I turn it on. It's a plasma TV.

Anyway, does anyone know if this is repairable? Or am I SOL?

I'm guessing SOL. Renter's insurance?

No, I'm not sure that would be covered anyway would it?

I'm having problems with my plasma also. I ended up talking to a repairing about it on Friday and he told me the vertical lines I'm getting in the picture are caused by the screen. He told me to fix this, he would have to Take every component apart just to get to the screen. I asked him how much this would cost and he said anywhere from 500 to $1000, that is If the manufacter would sell the parts. Something like this you're better off buying a new TV

Yeah this is what I was afraid of. Especially since this one cost me a pretty penny and I in no way can afford to replace it.

If you are SOL on your TV and on a tight budget Best Buy is running a sale on a 32'' Toshiba 720p for $230 from now until Saturday.

I know that is not what you are wanting to hear but if you need a new TV maybe that can help you save some money.

There are also good deals on open box TVs listed as Used on the Amazon Marketplace if that is something that interests you

I have a different problem with my tv, but it has been sitting in the repair shop since last October. The repair guy knows what is wrong, but it is almost impossible for him to get parts. He's hanging onto it just in case the needed parts become available, but I'm not holding my breath. Needless to say, I've bought a new tv.

Your TV is already fixed and in repair guy's mancave.

Most electronic companies won't sell you parts to their products If the product is a year or older to force you to buy a new one.

6 months old. I might just call them up.

Probably SOL. If in Central Iowa call MesserlyTV in Fort Dodge, they are in the DM and Ames area periodically and may be able to help.
