Closest I have been was in a heavy down pour my car was spun around and I ended up in the ditch, I thought it was just wind and wet roads. I later I learned a small tornado had crossed the highway.

Saw a small one take out my uncles barn when i was around 10. He lived a couple miles straight West of us. Glad it missed us.

I have seen 6 anywhere from 1 mile to 10 miles away. 2 when I was driving and 4 from my house. Not all in NE, I have lived in 8 states.
