Any news on Lanning's recruitment since he was brought up?
Played baseball all summer for Ankeny, said he would make decision after baseball. I'm no expert on the topic, but if I had to guess I would think the decision will be made soon so he doesn't have it drag on into football season.
Ankeny will be very good on the offensive side of the ball. However it was their defense that was so stout last year that got them to the semis. I think they put up a ton of points this year.Valley will be monstrous up front again and will pound on people in the run game, and they always reload on D.2 teams that I thought might be able to scare a few teams this year, Waukee and Marshalltown, I have heard are really struggling with numbers. Maybe someone here can confirm? No idea about Ames, with all the injuries they had last year, it is tough to tell who is legit coming back.
Ankeny has a solid group of linebackers in Carlson, Clayberg, and Gibbs. It will be the defensive line that is the biggest question.
