Re: Another Cyclone added to the world
Congratulations! All of the best to you and your little one! Opinions about new babies are rampant, and nobody waits for you to ask for theirs - take most of it with a grain of salt, only keep the stuff that sounds useful!

As our doctor said, "labor sucks", and he compared it to kidney stones and heart attacks.
Guess if I ever have to spend 17 hours passing a kidney stone, then I might have a chance of winning an argument with my wife again...
Congratulations!!

We had our first baby 7/3 and the advice was just flowing from everyone and there wasn't hardly any that worked like the advice givers said. Every situation is different and just go with the flow. Babies are quite the life changer. Idk if this is lack of sleep making me dillusional or not but the past 6 weeks have been the best of my life. Still don't get enough sleep but its kind of nice getting up with her in the middle of the night and just having time to yourself chatting to them while they eat. Have fun and congrats!!

Re: Another Cyclone added to the world
Congrats man, first one just over 2, 2nd one coming in a month or so. If it's your first, realize you don't have to be a 'perfect' parent, just a good one. And, yeah, take the help, leave the advice.

Re: Another Cyclone added to the world
Thanks all. Things have been pretty good so far at the hospital, nursing is going well, and she has been very calm for the most part. I'm sure that will change as she becomes more aware of the world around her and learns that the Hawkeyes exist.
The timing from that OSU game to now is a little conspicuous...

Congrats to the OP.! Two daughters myself.
I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong. -

Re: Another Cyclone added to the world
Congrats! We have three girls--one wants to play softball at ISU, one wants to be a gymnast at ISU, and the last one can't talk yet. ;) Bring that little one to all the games you can and get them used to the excitement around ISU events. Even at 9 months our youngest recognized and LOVED Cy. She still loves Cy at 15 mo, it was so cute to see her wake up Sunday morning and be looking at her tattoo she got at the fair.
People will surely ask--"is the baby sleeping through the night?" Just smile and nod unless you have a perfect sleeper. Babies wake up a lot and sleeping through the night (which technically is about 5 hrs in a row) may take awhile. Or not, each child is different. :) Find what works for your family and the baby and not worry about one particular "style" of parenting.
