Annoying little bug in the new site

Shoot me if you want, but I can't find that official bug reports thread that popped up after the new site came up. Anyway, I have grown very dependent on Firefox's automatic spell-checking when composing new forum messages, and for some reason this is disabled with the new site. I suspect Firefox thinks the new site is using an HTML or XML editor and disables the spell check, but I could be wrong.

If only there were a "Site Feedback and Support" forum that you could get to with 2 seconds of effort. And if only the "bugs" thread was the very first thread you see on that forum.

Man, that sure would make life easier.

How weird. I did not just type "bugs" into the search panel, and the "report bugs here" thread most definitely was not the second result. After reading this thread, there's no way that could have happened.

Spell check is working in FireFox for me. When in the message editor box, Right-click and make sure "Check Spelling" is checked. Then, right-click, select "Languages", and make sure a language is picked. This is in Ubuntu 12.04. If you run Windows, it may be different.

It's working on Chrome for me. And on my iphone. Not sure if chrome and firefox use the same stuff, however.

Here's an idea: why don't you learn to write in English? What is so hard about spelling?

One thing that's more of a quirk is that you can't rep your own posts, but you can report them. Does self-reporting make the pain less?

Like when schools self-report to the NCAA hoping to get their sentence reduced, if you self-report, it might reduce the length of the time-out period you are given by the mods...

Actually, I did do that, but I got zero search results. Maybe I wasn't using the new search tool right, as it is quite different (and less intuitive).

Sorry about being snarky. I will stipulate that the search function does not always give great results. I'm hoping that better search results are among the improvements of the new site.
