Anyone else in Ames see or hear the low flying helicopters a few minutes ago? We are just east of campus and there were at least two of them. Our guess was that it was related to the presidents visit on Tuesday but not sure.

More than likely for the President. When he was in Cedar Rapids this spring, the Presidential Helicopters flew over my office a couple of times and that was about a week before he was in town.
They flew right outside my window 10 minutes ago...
They looked like military helicopters, so rworkman83 is probably right.
If they were black, it might be the DNR letting out mountain lions again.

It was two "Marine One's" (SAM XXX today) and two other escort helicopters.
We were driving on University when they came in. They landed on the intramural fields across from the stadium. I would presume it was a practice run for Tuesday.
