    I have a confession...(football related)

I will be missing the opener against Tulsa to go on a fishing trip. This will be the first home game I have missed since the 2001 season. I just feel like I needed to get that off of my chest. Someone needs to cheer twice as hard to make up for me.
Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

I know a lot of people have these streaks. How in the hell so you do it? I suppose if you live in Ames it's much easier but I would think in 11 years a wedding or something would have come up. I wish I was in a position to pull off making every game. I'm lucky to get to 4.

    Or so I have read.

Don't feel bad. I average missing 1-2 games a year. Life happens sometimes and it is unavoidable. Plus, there are more important things in life than sports and I'm okay with that.

You might not believe this. Last year I missed my first home game in 7 years to go on a fishing trip as well. We had the exact same plans this year to go on labor day weekend. I just got a text about an hour ago that the guy who's cabin we were staying in couldn't go because his grandchild had to be hopitalized due to illness. It's a crappy situation all around but at least I can still go to the game. So I can make up for your absence.

Yeah and I don't understand the guys that can make it to every game also. Here is an old article from ESPN about Superfans.

Top 20 super fans from around the country - ESPN

    1. Dick Coffee (Alabama) As has been detailed in this countdown, Dick Coffee certainly isn't the only person following the Crimson Tide to each away game in the fall. He is, however, the only person who's been doing it for every single game since 1946.
That's right -- Coffee now has attended a whopping 741 straight Tide games after their victory in Pasadena for another national championship. Now 88 and still wearing a coat and tie to each game, Coffee's streak started when he was a freshman at Alabama after he served in the war. To put that in perspective, another freshman in 1946 was a Brown football player named Joe Paterno.
Coffee got a major scare for the 1964 Sugar Bowl when he couldn't reach the game due to snow. With time running out, Coffee asked the operators of a freight train if they would add an extra car on the back to transport him and his fellow Tide fans down there. He made it in time to witness Alabama's victory over Ole Miss. A stroke in 1994 didn't stop Coffee's streak, either.
Pellerin's mark of 797 is just 56 games away, which would put Coffee surpassing the USC super fan sometime in the 2014 season.

It was pretty easy for me. I made 7 years up until last year. My parents always had season tickets and we only lived about 20 minutes away in high school. I am now on my victory lap year at ISU and only missed one game my entire collegiate career.

    Re: I have a confession...(football related)

In 8 years I've been to every home game except for 2, both due to weddings. I almost missed Iowa last year but was able to go and haul *** to make the nuptials in time. I also made a road game in that time span to Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa 3 times, Arrowhead twice, Kansas, Mizzou and all the bowls since the first Shreveport bowl.

There are things more important in life than sports no doubt, but most the time if you're a guy in his late teens and early 20s you can move them around so you can participate in both.

I might be able to do that. We'll be celebrating our 11th anniversary at the game!

I know a guy who has only missed one football game, home and away(including bowls) since the mid 1970's. And he hasn't lived in Ames since he graduated.

I cheer twice as loud for you if you do the same for me at the Texas Tech game. Will be missing my first home game since getting season tickets again 3 years ago. Doing a Fly in Fishing trip in Canada at lake wabakimi
