I didn't even know there were colors back in 1902. I just thought they had everything for blacks and whites.

What a terrible plot. No wonder that guy died an unknown, his films were terrible.
Crazy to see how much technology has changed in 100 years.
Real-life got a firmware upgrade shortly before that. As you can see from the video the bit-depth was rather poor. Thankfully that was fixed with a later driver.
But seriously, I think I heard something about this on the radio the other day. IIRC, Turner got color by placing a rotating color wheel in front of a normal black-and-white camera. Then, during playback, the film is projected through another rotating color wheel. Synchronization issues would have been a ***** to deal with.
ITS IN 3D!
Interestingly, the color wheel approach was also CBS's proposal for color television and was actually adopted by the FCC in 1950. TV manufacturers refused to build sets because the CBS system was not backwards compatible with the monochrome broadcast standard. Eventually, CBS gave up (for various reasons) and the backwards-compatible, color-wheel free system developed by RCA (earlier rejected by the FCC) became the standard.
First documented case of goldfish abuse. Humans are so cruel. :jimlad:
