Sell it on ebay. Used 3GS's go for between $50-$125.

Except for the 4G LTE it's all superficial changes. Once again, instead of putting their best stuff in a product, they've got to make sure the fanboys are willing to sell the iPhone 5 less than a year from now for what I'm sure will be an underwhelming iPhone 6 in terms of technology progress.

Why make a major upgrade when you can continue to sell slight upgrades at record paces?

I know people are mad because they thought this would be groundbreaking but they sold 2 million in a day, that's over $500 million in revenue. In one day. Why would that change their model?

Agreed that some of the upgrades are trivial but I don't see any phone on the market that is better than the 4s let alone the 5. iphones have been the best selling smartphones since 2008. Last year the 4s sold 70+ million which is more than the next 5 combined. I think their model is working pretty good. I've had 2 droids and this will be my 2nd iphone and I don't see myself going back anytime soon.

That's what happened with me last time when I stayed up and ordered 4S through AT&T.
I placed two orders last time, one from AT&T and another from Apple. The one from Apple came on a release date, but AT&T came couple weeks later.

You def get yours on release date if you order one from Apple.

Precisely. As far as phones, as long as carriers continue to subsidize smart phone purchases, Apple doesn't have to innovate anything to be successful, because consumers will be able to purchase iPhones for the same price as Android phones with better hardware and features.

    Now to rant...
I hate the subsidy model that US carriers use. I hate that my phone bill is inflated so that people can get over-priced phones at a steep discount. A couple of European carriers are testing the non-subsidy model in a some select markets (no contracts, plan prices are not inflated for phone subsidies, and users buy their phones straight out). So far, not surprisingly, Android has about 90% smart phone market share in those test markets.
