Capturing Insects

I'm doing a biology project where I have to capture and pin 25 insects, from the 7 major orders. What exactly is the best way to capture them, besides just using a net and jar with alcohol? It would be best if there was something made from household materials, and something I could just leave out overnight

If you want nighttime insects like moths and beetles, you can hang a white sheet and blacklight and get some good specimens.
