Visit Detroit at your own risk
Visit Detroit at your own risk, police union warns - U.S. News
The Detroit Police Officers Association is warning citizens and out-of-towners that they enter Detroit at their own risk, saying that the "grossly understaffed" and overworked police force cannot adequately protect the public in the increasingly violent city.
“Detroit is America’s most violent city, its homicide rate is the highest in the country and yet the Detroit Police Department is grossly understaffed”
Well, okay then.

Well, to be fair, when could the Detroit police protect people from that hell hole? It won't be long and they will be bringing in scab cops...

I'm not saying Robocop was a documentary, but maybe.

Re: Visit Detroit at your own risk
If that is scab cop, then get rid of all cop unions, and only have scab cops.

Re: Visit Detroit at your own risk
Detroit is a lost cause and an American tragedy. They should give everyone a date to get out by and then level it.
We went there in '97 for the NCAA tourney and stayed with friends. The first thing they did when we got there was give us a map of the city (no GPS back then, kids) and highlighted the areas we should not enter. "Even the cops don't go there anymore, it's a war zone." I'll never forget it.

Re: Visit Detroit at your own risk
This is nothing but politics. I've been down to the ballpark several times and never even felt close to being in any danger. Would never hesistate taking my family down there either. The gov unions and the state are butting heads to try to find some kind of way of saving the city financially and the FOURTY TWO government unions they have in the ONE city are pretty ticked. The way they want to tear down their own city, just to make their point, is a microchasm of Detroit's problem going back many years.

I can see the reality show possibilities now if detroit becomes a ghost town.

Chicago's already over 400 murders for the year. is Detroit worse than that?

And a lot of the fear of Detroit is just perception, it certainly has problems but its not like the whole town is a warzone worse than all the other Cities. A couple years back we sent our surveyors there for a project; they were scared to go there and work. So, their boss went ahead and printed out the violent crime statistics in KC and a suburb where they usually work and the statistics for the part of Detroit they were heading to... yep, the places they work all the time had more crime.
