My wife just accepted a job in Dallas and we will be moving down there over the next couple weeks. She starts Nov. 5, so we would like to get in an apartment before then. My question to you Dallas folk is where are some good areas to live for 24 year olds? We have seen Uptown area, but have been looking at Addison a lot. We would like to keep rent around $1000 or so.
If you have any tips on anything Dallas related, please let me know!

I think the best thing is our boys play at UT Nov. 10th. I will definitely be in attendance.
We (early 30's) just did the same thing in May and settled in Addison, at the Allegro apartments. There is also the Post Addison Circle apartments that run a bit cheaper but they didn't have any floor plans that my wife would settle on. We enjoy going out in the Uptown area as well as Addison but for the same money it would have been much more expensive to live there. There has been a major festival a couple of blocks away three times since I have lived here (Taste of Addison, Kaboom Town - 4th of July, and Oktoberfest) and they have all been a blast. However, I probably will never drive in for them once we live elsewhere. Traffic would be crazy.
We are planning on only being in this area for two years max and hopefully in a home next summer but for the first year I would recommend Addison every time. My sister and her family live in the bedford/euliss area..... It's not bad, and right smack dab in the middle of dallas fort worth. I think housing is relatively affordable.

The HEB area is certainly nice, but for a downtown Dallas commute, I think Addison will work better. There are some different routes to downtown Dallas from Addison. From Euless/Bedford, you are pretty much stuck with SH183, and you'll have to go through the SH183 DFW/CentrePort congestion every morning.
