    Greek Question

For all you Greeks on CF, what were your reasons for going Greek? Reason I ask is, I'm giving a persuasive speech on it for my class, I was just wondering what fellow Greeks reasons were for joining a fraternity/sorority.

    *Note
Don't post in here if you're going to flame the Greeks, I don't want to hear it.

    Re: Greek Question

When I joined it was because, quite honestly, of friends and the lure of parties and sorority girls. As the years have gone by I've realized how valuable the diverse friendships I made while a frat boy. A good example is I got a good job at a company owned by the family of a frat brother, and then when the company sold, another frat brother (now attorney) helped me incorporate to start my own company. I was one of the poorer guys in the frat house (think I was the only one who had to work through school) but the relationships I made then have truly helped me live a more successful life than I probably would've on my own.

    Re: Greek Question

My older brother was part of a frat and, because I was a little familiar with the system, I decided to look into it. I didn't join my brother's fraternity because I was drawn to another frat whose motto was "Builder of Men." That intrigued me. Joining that frat gave me an instant support group where I was encouraged in a 4-fold development: academically, spiritually, socially and physically. When I faced academic struggles my 1st semester, a number of my brothers helped & encouraged me.

Glad to see another fellow FarmHouse man on CF!

I joined a great fraternity. The brotherhood, alumni relations, reputation on campus, support networks, number of involvement and participation opportunities. The Greek community has plenty of opportunities. Members of the Greek Community are usually very successful upon graduation, and the Greek GPA is almost always higher than the ISU average.

    Re: Greek Question

took summer school prior to my freshman year. wasn't a huge fan of the dorms (not knocking those that chose not to go greek, I just felt something was missing for me). walked up to a house I had heard good things about and was welcomed in and given a tour. hung out there for the last few weeks of the summer and then eventually signed a bid card. that was the best decision i could have made IMO.

after that day it was busting hymens and paddling a$$es for this guy!!!

    Another FarmHouse brother here.

I looked at a couple houses at ISU and was drawn to FH by the drive/motivation of the house and their focus on member development. In addition to anything house-specific, all the activities that occur within the Greek community provided excellent opportunities for leadership development and networking.

    Re: Greek Question

i like ******* chicks. seemed the easiest way to do so.
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.
