From DSM.
Any tips? Taking my older 2 kids down in late January. Travel agent got us at 266/person with a stop. Looks like Allegiant flights are $160. Is that too good to be true. Looks like they fly on Monday's only.
Thought Southwest being in DSM now would be cheap to but it doesn't appear that way at all.
Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.
allegiant is ok if you can be flexible. the problem is if there is a problem with the flight you are stuck or missing your trip. my wife was supposed to go to AZ back in July, but there was a problem with the plane and canceled her flight - so she missed out on the trip.
plus allegiant to orlando is on the other side of the city and no shuttles to disney (if that's where you are going). so the flight savings might get eaten up in cab fees.

Oooo good information to know. Thanks.

At least Southwest isn't going to nickel and dime you. The price you pay is it--no fees, checked bags, and they go to MCO with good access to everything.
Allegiant is notorious for doing that kind of stuff, and there are going to be some tricky fees and costs for bags. Go for price, of course, but I just pick SWA on the principle of how they treat customers well.
Then again, I live under the shadow of their hub at BWI, so it is cheaper and easier than me than it is for DSM.
We flew Allegiant to Florida last week from Moline. I booked the flight, motel and rental car all through Allegiant and think the pricing was pretty good. We stayed at the Royal Plaza right near Downtown Disney. They do nickel-and-dime things a little. The rental car had around $65 in taxes added and the hotel added $8 per night for added fees. They also charge for both carry-on and checked bags. They fly into Sanford which is about 45 miles from Disney.
My son is in Orlando. Southwest hasn't turned out to be any cheaper yet. He did get a good deal on Frontier one time, it was either a nonstop or a stop and stay on the same plane out of DM on Wed and MCO on Sunday. Nice not to worry about connections.
