And you may not agree with or perceive the connection the right to "get high" has with the issues raised. The irony is that talking about marijuana on this board was also a "to the cave" issue on this very site only a few years ago. I see the connection. I also know that I have had a simple joke about Gore and inventing the internet deleted when it was in the flow of the thread because that was cave material. I think this is a good discussion and you are doing your darnedest to get it exiled. Whether connected or not that will be the result. You made your point. Just stay on topic.
Also don't assume that someone who tries to keep this discussion from ending up in the cave is automatically opposed to your point of view on legalization.

Fair enough. Rant over. I deleted all posts deemed offensive. If you want them all gone, you'll have to edit out comments on yours as well.

They sit in jail. No help to them at all. Is not a retroactive law and no amnesty clause.

Re: Colorado and Oregon legalize Marijuana?
I am curious to hear what some of the people who said no have to think on this topic. I don't want to call them out, I am just curious as to why they believe it should be illegal. The hemp plant has so many positives to it that it is unbelievable. I am fine if it just becomes a medicinal drug, its a start to something that I believe should be legal and could help plenty of people. The reason I would love for it to be legal is my struggle from panic disorder. I would love to be off of certain medications that can cause more harm to me than can help me.

I would assume if they are in jail on a charge for very long, they would be in there for doing the same thing even now that it's legal. The limitations as to what is now legal would not have resulted in much of a jail sentence previously.

I went to ISU in the seventies. Pot use was common, maybe more so than today. We knew it to be generally harmless. Go to the decade before and earlier and that familiarity is not there. Thus, concern over the unknown.

There is probably also a generation aground the late 70's to mid 80's against it too, when they started the just say no ********

I think frustration over the drug wars not getting anywhere is driving as much or more than anything. In Washington the law was paraded as a bill that will finally get a handle on the marijuana usage by regulating the sale. In the voters pamphlet the argument against the law started off, "if you want to legalize marijuana vote no". This was more about getting a handle on the sales and distribution of it, iliminating the need for smuggling that can lead to even worse issues, than it did about people just wanting to smoke it. I

Re: Colorado and Oregon legalize Marijuana?
Because old people vote so they are overrepresented.

Re: Colorado and Oregon legalize Marijuana?
I think there are some powerful lobbies against it, and I think we know that money talks, especially when it's easy to be against it on "moral" grounds.
