Agreed, and they can get guest spots that are relevant, too (see John McCain earlier this season, and I think the next episode is going to have Joe Biden). Even if you're not a huge fan of whatever political figure, it makes it very entertaining.

Interestingly, this is the exact reason why many people think The Simpsons took such a turn for the worse (and this article is almost 10 years old):
Who turned The Simpsons into a cartoon? - Slate Magazine
There was one recently where the bride was ''best friends'' with a ten year old. Which on its own is kinda neat. But why in the world did she allow the ten year old to be so demanding on what type of dress she should get?
Not to mention the ten year old was rude when she critiqued the dresses....and the editing didn't show anyone shocked or correcting her manners. Ugh.
I had thought it was supposed to be coming back 10/18, but our DVR hasn't caught any. Did they postpone the whole season until spring? I am also worried - losing your biggest creative force (and creator) isn't good, and I can't imagine the actors (besides Chevy) are super-happy about it.
To answer the original poster and stop derailing the thread (sorry!), I don't watch any of these shows on a regular basis, but if I'm flipping through the channels, I'll definitely stop and enjoy them in guilty pleasure:
--HIMYM
--any one of those house hunting shows on HGTV or TLC or whatever channel they're on
--Two and a Half Men reruns
House Hunters is easy TV. No story line, but you still get to watch people (usually the wives) be prissy idiots. I always sort of hope that the people picked a house that has a bad roof or something when they're jerks. I don't watch it regularly, but will flip it on for background noise.
