Need your help!
I took an internship at Aegon in Cedar Rapids for this January thru August and need advice on some nice apartments or places to live in CR. Any help for a fellow fanatic?

Re: Need your help!
Which Aegon building will you be working at? They are on completely different sides of town, so that might factor into recommendations.
Also, I temped at Aegon one summer when I was laid off. You have my sympathy. But, like, best of luck and stuff.

Northwest side of town close to twin pines golf course i believe

Re: Need your help!
I'm heading out but will PM you later. I have a couple friends who are managers out there and they might have some suggestions where previous interns have stayed.

Re: Need your help!
That's on the northeast side of town, there are a bunch of apartments just south on Edgewood Road across the river, and also some more further out to the northeast accessible via Highway 100 which comes out right by Aegon.
With the exception of the ones right across the river on the NW side I would avoid everything else that is not on the NE side just because it will be a ways away (unless you don't mind a bit of a commute)

Re: Need your help!
The Pointe is fine, but make sure you don't live on the bottom floor if you go that route (my unit flooded twice in a year). If you know of anyone to live with, Windsor on the River would probably be a better option. A friend of mine lived there while she interned at Transamerica (Aegon) and it was pretty nice. If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me. I graduated from ISU in May of last year, so I've lived here for about 18 months now.

Re: Need your help!
Windsor on the River is very nice but I think it's fairly pricey, thus the recommendation for a roommate. There are some apartments farther up Edgewood south of the new Cedar Rapids Schools office (aka the Taj Mahal) but I think I heard those are now low-income? Not sure. You might check Hiawatha as well.

You might check Hiawatha as well. Seemed like everywhere I looked in Hiawatha was low-income. Might have required a year lease as well. But yes, Windsor is about 850/month for 2BR, I believe.
On the upside, if you live on the north side of town, you can always tell when the wind is out of the south.

Re: Need your help!
I will have a roommate so yes two bedrooms are what we are looking for. Just Out of curiosity how bad is the smell everyone complains about from Quaker?

Re: Need your help!
You won't smell it at home or anything, but if you go outside and get the right wind and/or get close enough, and it can be overpowering at first. You get used to it.
Another thing to be wary of is the speed/stop light cameras. They're only in a few locations, and there are signs marking them. On I-380, they're always the first overhead sign after a sign that says traffic laws are photo enforced. Speed limit is 55, I usually go 62 with no problem.
