but as time passed, with big market teams poaching the talented players that came through the development teams of small market teams, and the games getting longer and longer, the player strike, I really lost interest and who can give up 4 hours to watch a game, 162 times a year, let alone the time to attend one.

Revenue sharing, the competitive-balance tax, and the debt-service rule may change some of things that killed my "fan" passion for the game, but the fact remains, games are way too frictin long.

Living in Milwaukee, they love their Brewers, but not near as much as their Packers or Badgers. And baseball season is about passing the time until Football comes on.
I don't think most baseball fans sit down an watch every game. I listen to Twins games via the MLB app while I work. It sure beats the heck out of listening to all of the ACC homer sports radio guys here in North Carolina. I do enjoy watching baseball on TV when I'm just chillin', but I'm a poor grad student, so a $12 phone app is all I got.

Nothing beats actually being at a game though. The weather is great. There's the smell of hot dogs and brats in the air. I think the people on the Ken Burns Baseball documentary said it best. I'm paraphrasing here, but they were comparing baseball and football, and said that a baseball park is more than a field... it's a PARK. It's the destination. And you "tailgate" while you're watching the game. It's not the fastest moving game. The game is slow enough to carry on a conversation while you're watching, but it has the excitement to leave you speechless. It's a roller coaster of emotions.

I think people on this thread are making the false assumption that you have to choose baseball or football. That's a false dichotomy. I love both, and can't imagine 'merica without both.
