Criss-crossing campus got really old that year.
I want to say it was the next one - 08-09, because I was living in Freddy walking to Kildee every day and that's the year I would have had classes in those two buildings.

Don't forget that for a period of about 5 years ending the year before last, the whole damn state was up to their nostrils in snow. Two dry years does not a climate make.
Nope. Its global warming, the beginning of the end is here, my friend.

I'll just go with both, since there were 3 ridiculously snowy ones in a row.
Re: Christmas in Iowa with no snow
Up until about 3 years ago when my kids got old enough to enjoy snow I really started enjoying it again. I don't particularly care to travel in it, but that's where being self employed has its perks.

Yup. '08-'09 was it. Remember it well, my senior year we had to walk about a mile for a 9 AM final. My roommate had just gotten out of the shower (wet hair) I thought for sure he was a goner and I was going to have to eat him to survive.

yeah I"m trying to remember the previous year and I'm not having much luck. The next year we had a couple nasty blizzards and a snow day. And an ice storm over Christmas. That was fun because living at the top of a big hill on a rural road meant we got to go ice sledding down the road. The bad news was it snapped all the power lines and being as we are the end of the line..........it took the power company three days to get it back on. Even worse was that our generator was going bad (like shooting sparks bad) so we could only run a couple things at a time. That meant cows didn't get milked until about 3pm and the house was damn cold. It was just a hellish few days. Just because of that, my parents put in some kind of stand in generator or something like that? Kicks in after 30 seconds, saved us several times now!
Re: Christmas in Iowa with no snow
I want rain and above freezing temps. Get that moisture in the ground.
Re: Christmas in Iowa with no snow
My senior year in high school, which would have been the winter of 07-08, we only had school for ten days in the month of February due to snow and other circumstances (girls basketball team made state).

Santa, bring me some snow for Christmas.

Worldwide temps ARE rising, but that doesn't mean Iowa will become a desert.

Re: Christmas in Iowa with no snow
Last winter was probably my favorite winter. A little snow is alright, but after that winter we had about 70" of snow in one season a couple years ago, i think we'd earned a reprieve last year.
The whole '4 seasons' thing is highly overrated. Cold sucks.
Re: Christmas in Iowa with no snow
I love 4 seasons. I just wish winter was one or two months instead of 3, and we got a solid rainy season in Febuary/March.

The last winter I lived in Ames. It was unspeakably brutal. After my roomates were idiots who let the furnace blare, and we got a $600 heating bill, we kept the house as cold as possible, without freezing the pipes.
I remember a lot of nights going to bed in snow pants and ski jacket with hat and gloves on.
