Realizing that the smiles I'm getting at the mall from the good looking young women are because of my toddler or newborn, not because of their dad.

23 is a real *****. This, but for me that happened around 30. I really miss being able to play basketball for hours on end.
They say that English surnames came from what you did with your life. I'm so glad my last name isn't Dickinson. -

It could be for both. There is something so adorable about a big strong man holding a little baby or the hand of a toddler. Even more so when she's babbling on about something and Dad is all "yep, I see, very nice, yes, you did, yes, I'm watching."

Re: What do you hate about getting older?
Creaky joints that sometimes give me some pain, despite the fact that I haven't done anything the previous day or two. Hey right ankle, what did I ever do to you?! Oh yeah...I broke you 25 years ago, and now you're paying me back for it.
And, now I have to do a workout just to keep a damn pat of butter off my waistline, when I could eat nearly a whole pizza when I was twenty and not worry about body fat.
Hair not growing in places where I want it and growing in places where I don't want it - classic but also very true.
My arm isn't long enough for me to tell time now - that guy reading a book at arms length, yeah that's me now.
When one of the kids wants to play legos or a board game down on the floor, I say "Okay, but maybe we can do it at the kitchen table because the floor hurts Daddy's back after about a half hour." That's just weak but it's true. (Note for the young people - have kids earlier in life. It's fun trying and the body will thank you later).
The hobbies I really love are very expensive, while the ones I merely like are not.
The dawning of the fact that there is more information and knowledge being produced and discovered that I'm falling behind in seemingly every area which at one time or another I felt like I could converse intelligently. Finding myself saying, "I may not be up on all that" going from occasional to frequent.
I could go on but you youngsters are going to say it's too long as it is.
Cheers

My ego thanks you. -

Sore muscles. When I was young, 24 hrs was peak hurt, then back to new the next day. Now 24 hrs is the warning that the next day is gonna be a REAL B****!

Re: What do you hate about getting older?
I'm 24 and can't walk up/down a set of stairs without pain in my right knee. Double the pain in the right & add pain in the left when I'm in ski boots on stairs, which is pretty much every day in the winter these days. Bad genetics, multiple tears & subsequent surgeries, and an inability to give up being active in recreational games/sports as much as it may hurt afterward.
I don't even want to know what it'll be like 20, 30 years down the road.

I don't even want to know what it'll be like 20, 30 years down the road. I am just hoping the damage i did to my knees was done when i was young enough, and that it wont haunt me forever.

I'm getting fatter and hairier. Other than that, life is good. I still have the maturity of a 12 year old.

I'm not looking forward to the day when it's "creepy" for me to hit on college-aged girls.
