Re: Best Nice Restaurant in DM
Chicks really dig it when you cook for them all day, set a romantic table and make a big deal of it. They think that you'll do it all the time when you're married. It works best when you just make a mess in the kitchen, cater it from a nice restaurant and take all the credit.

Flying Mango in Beaverdale is worth a look.

Re: Best Nice Restaurant in DM
There is a difference between great food and a good place to take your girl.
801 Grand has the best atmosphere along with good food
All the others listed have good food but some are pretty loud. Sam & Gabes, Latin King, Centro have close seating and can be pretty loud. I haven't been to Splash in a few years but I remember it being pretty quiet.

Re: Best Nice Restaurant in DM
I second dmclone. There are a lot of good food suggestions but 801 grand and splash both have high end atmospheres to go with the top notch food. You can't go wrong with either just depends on if you want steak or seafood. (FYI. There are a lot of good steak places in Iowa but not a lot of seafood places that can compete with splash)

Cosi Cucina is a great date spot. Hadn't seen it mentioned. Italian grill in Clive on 86th. Cosi Cucina Italian Grill - Home -

Cafe DiScala is a good place/and is unique. Excellent Italian food.

Baru 66 would be great for what you are looking for. Also Bistro Montage.

Re: Best Nice Restaurant in DM
I suggested going to 801 Grand with my wife, as I've been there for work functions a few times. But when she saw the prices, she said, "It's stupid to spend that much money on something you're going to poop out the next day!" Probably why we end up at Iowa Beef Steakhouse for steak.

Another vote for Sam & Gabe's here. Get the Beef Tenderloin de Burgo or the Pork Tenderloin and you will not be disappointed.

Re: Best Nice Restaurant in DM
For romantic atmosphere and food the options are probably:
Steak House - 801 Grand
Italian - Cafe Di Scala
French - Baru 66
Seafood - Splash
A lot of good places with really good food mentioned in this thread, but for a romantic date at the 'best' place in town these are probably your options. Embassy club would also fit the bill, but you'd need to find a member.
