What time is your flight? It is not supposed to start snowing in DSM until after 4pm.

I fly out of Dallas at 330. I am suppose to land in Des Moines at 510. Need to get home today. Movers are coming to my house tomorrow to move all of my stuff. Hopefully this doesn't end horribly.

It's been a while since I've heard the NWS refer to a winter storm/blizzard as "life-threatening"

As the DSM NWS tweeted, its pretty rare for DSM to hit a foot or more. Combine that with wind and it could get pretty nasty out there.

Have a family member coming in tonight at 9, hopefully the flight can make it.

I can't even describe the amount of jealousy I have right now. I hope it all shifts up north and we get that blizzard.

Yeah... at least the flight is a direct one.. so if it gets cancelled hopefully it gets cancelled before it ever takes off from houston, and they dont spend the night in a layover airport.

I'm not hopeful though, it looks like it could be bad

I would be shocked if you don't get in. That plane getting back out may be an issue though.

I just heard a coworker say that all flights this evening from OHare to DSM have been cancelled.

Just checked CID they have a cancelled flight from Ohare to CID and Dallas to CID for tonight. Though they have a Ohare flight scheduled to land at 6:45pm so that gives me hope that I will leave at 6pm

I am at the El Paso Airport right now and they said all evening flights have been cancelled coming into Des Moines. I have one of the last flights in that hasn't been cancelled.

I'm on that flight from Houston. Transfer flight from Liberia, Costa Rica. Would be nice to be stuck here (sitting in the airport in Costa Rica) rather than Houston but such is life.
