very cool! I love big snow storms, mostly because when I lived on the farm, they sucked, but we didn't have to go anywhere. As long as it wasn't bitterly cold, it wasn't awful. Pretty much the same in cubeland. My dad talks about the winter of 1978 and having to dig paths for the milkman and other vehicles. Like having a huge wall of snow on either side of the road.
Can someone explain why the US was doing without weather reports?
It was during WW2 and the weather reports were censored to keep our enemies from getting any useful knowledge. Like "oh, hey, huge blizzard, so if you were to attack, there'd be no way for us to fight back during this time."
They quit doing that after a hurricane hit Houston in the summer of 1943 that nobody was warned about.
