Anyone drive from Ames to Boone or vice versa this morning? Might have to make a trip that way soon.

Re: Midweek snow storm
6 foot drifts on the road running directly by my office - and nearly every other road getting to that one is blocked or nearly impassable according to the local police dept.'s fb page. Sounds like it's pretty bad out there still!

Re: Midweek snow storm
That thick ice on leftover on the road is horrible. Of course being that the car I use is a Mustang further compounds the problem.

Re: Midweek snow storm
Just heard from one of my salespeople that I80 west of Altoona is way backed up as semis are having trouble making it up the hill. Hope it gets better as I have an afternoon appointment in Ankeny.

Hope it gets better as I have an afternoon appointment in Ankeny. I took my brother to work in West Des Moines this morning, and if the rest of the interstates are as bad as 235, I'd try to stick in town to the other highways and roads to get there.
235 on/off ramps were still deathtraps (at least the ones I used) and you also have pretty good stretches where it's solid ice with ruts.
And of course you have to watch out for I'm-an-awesome-driver-in-a-cool-car-on-the-interstate-so-I-have-to-go-20mph-than-everyone-else guy trying to kill you.
Saw one ******* doing close to 60 in the far right lane cutting off every single person trying to merge on. And the merging cars don't really have anywhere to go since the part plowed out for them merges pretty abruptly on a few.
Didn't slow down until he spun sideways trying to change lanes and not hit a merging car.

Re: Midweek snow storm
Anybody been out south of Des Moines on I35 today? I'm thinking about making the drive up from Kansas City this afternoon. The DOT website is still saying fully snow and ice covered, am I'm having a hard time believing that.
