There is a possibility that this storm is only a "tremor" compared to the 10.0 "earthquake" that could land Christmas Day/Wednesday/Thursday (25th-27th)
Look at post #81 (first on page) European Model shows a total of 36" in the central purple color with most of the stat getting 18" of the white stuff. Dec. 24-27 Plains/MW/GL/OV Winter Storm - AccuWeather.com Forums -

Since we're talking the Christmas Day-27th storm let me say first off there are a fair number of analogues to the storm we had around Christmas in 2009. That said it has a feel of a storm where the bulk of the snows stay east imo.
