Worst towns in Iowa

Those places suck in as much as they can be really boring, cookie-cutter chain store/restaurant dominated and lack any kind of unique character. But they aren't impoverished, dangerous, etc.

That's what you think. I had a pair of shoes and backpack stolen out of my car near the Aquatic Center in West Des Moines. I will never feel safe in the area again! Also, the thieves didn't take the stack of school textbooks I had in the backseat so I do not believe they are college educated. Those books are worth their weight in gold (buying, not selling back..).

AMEN! Was back visiting and hit a Pizza Ranch....good Lord....if I'm the most fit guy in a place....that says something.
Ask an Iowan about a restaurant. The first thing they'll talk about is portion size.

Keokuk is way worse than both Burlington and Fort Madison. I'd vote for Tama and Denison. Some people are just naming small towns. Zearing for instance is a small town but really not all bad. St Anthony I don't think you can even call a town but does have a decent bar/restaurant.

Quick stop in Leon, I thought it was all right. Liked the elephant outside the ice cream place. Everywhere produces a few losers.

Personally, I believe Ottumwa is better than Columbus, Nebraska. Columbus is about 5,000 less in population, and might bet a bit "cleaner", but it's all crammed into this small parcel of land. The best way I put it is that there was no "breathing" room. In Ottumwa, at least I feel there's some breathing room.

This is exactly whey we can't have an impartial discussion on best/worst towns. She hates the density of Columbus, which is only 2,200 per square mile. If you grew up in a small town that may be a lot but if you grew up in a city (city, not suburbs like me) that is not a lot at all. In fact, one of my main frustrations about smaller towns is how sparse they are. I much prefer houses with alleys yet most of Iowa is huge lots with tons of cars in the driveways and lawns.

This is exactly why East siders shouldn't be allowed on the West side. We need gates and/or toll roads.

The blizzard will tell the tale. Whatever town or city is left untouched is the worst one in Iowa. That's the one that wasn't worth shutting down.

I live in Cedar Rapids and am from Boone, I have family in Ft Dodge and went to school in Omaha and my vote goes for Ft Dirge or Counciltucky.
