What are your families Christmas traditions??
My wife and I have an 8 month old son and we are all celebrating our first Christmas together. I made the comment to my wife that tonight we start our own traditions for Christmas. We then looked at each other wondering what the hell we would do.
What are some of the fun/interesting/stupid traditions that you have?

Re: What are your families Christmas traditions??
Every Christmas eve my family would bring out the board game Risk. And every Christmas eve night, I would dominate the world. I kind of miss it, but everyone grew up and had kids which killed the tradition.
There are not many crowds or places in the country that have a better impact on the game than at Iowa State. The Cyclone fans are truly a sixth man. The place is so loud and always a fantastic crowd." - Former Kansas and current North Carolina head coach Roy Williams -

My inlaws do steak and seafood on Christmas Eve. We moved it up a couple days this year, but it is always awesome. Shrimp, crab legs, Lobster tails, and a 3 inch thick sirloin grilled and cut thin.
We also read "The Night Before Christmas" and the Christmas story with the kids before putting out a plate of cookies for Santa.

Re: What are your families Christmas traditions??
When I was a kid we always had Beef Rouladin which was a bacon and chopped onions rolled in a really thin beef cut and cooked in a mushroom soup mixture for about 3 hours. Wow was that an awesome meal :-) After that we'd open presents Christmas Eve.
This is our first year not going anywhere and having Christmas at home with the immediate family. Per my wife's family tradition am moving the present opening to Christmas day. Breakfast will be a German Stollen(this is from her side of the family) which is basically a huge cinnamon roll with raisins. Dinner will be Rouladin, mashed potatoes, rolls, and some type of vegetable and a good wine.
As you can tell our Christmas is a lot about good food, presents, and family. Did go to Mass tonight, so have done what is the most important thing about Christmas. -

We play Catan and listen to Manheim Steamroller on Christmas Eve after going to the church service. Christmas morning we always have beignet donuts!

Re: What are your families Christmas traditions??
When I was a kid it was always church on Christmas Eve and then we opened gifts. I used to love the fact that we didn't have to wait until Christmas day. Most times we would look at some Christmas lights around town before church as well.

Re: What are your families Christmas traditions??
Carried on a bit of a tradition myself tonight. My wife took 'forever' to get ready for church. Got so bad, my 2 YO son and I waited in the car for her.
Surprisingly, Santa came while we were in church. Just like when I was a kid, and my mom took forever to get ready for church on Christmas eve.

Ha, my parents pulled this stunt for me and my sister as well. I am guessing I will carry that on in a couple of years....
