This is the saddest song ever written -- Les Miserables: I Dreamed a Dream - Lea Salonga - YouTube
I was introduced to it last summer by my wife once we learned it was coming to the Civic Center. It'd always been something that was "there" as far as me acknowledging its existence, but I'd never seen it or knew what it was even about. The stage production blew me away, but it helped that my wife had me listen to the soundtrack during a long road trip and explained story as we went along.
Looking forward to the movie, the casting is absolutely perfect for this movie.
Grandma is in town. Wife wants to see this movie. I have airline bottles of drink. I will be fine on date night.
I would rather watch sports. Musicals do jothing for me except question why people are always breaking out in song.
I loved it. I knew I'd cry a little there are at least four songs that made me tear up before August. Since August I cry easier..so my hoodie is a bit damp. But I loved it!!
aww, glad you loved it! I bet I can get the Mr. to go with me....we got started by playing husband and wife in a musical. It was actually rumored for a long time that Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway were going to do a revival of the same one on Broadway and I soooooooooooooo wanted that to happen. I'm still hopeful. Even though I love musicals, I've seen so few of them! Including Les Mis, so I'm really wanting to see this one! Castle on a Cloud was one of the very first songs I learned when I started taking voice lessons forever ago.
Was really looking forward to this movie. Saw it. Absolutely hated it. Seriously bummed.
So is all the dialogue seriously sung? Thats what my mom said. Seems real obnoxious if so.
Aside from the music though, the story can bring great discussions. Javert thought that as long as you worked hard and did the right thing you would do well. In the end he couldn't change his beliefs after seeing an 'evil' man repeated show mercy, compassion, and succeed. Change was not possible.
You see the horror of being born poor in that time period, where there is no way to change your circumstances. (Which we can see today too) The horrible attitudes of those that want to get a head and what they are willing to do to get there.
There are so many things behind the songs the singing really is moot. There is a lot to think about.
