Family double-feature today: Les Miserables and Django Unchained
Big time musical fans in the family and Les Mis is such a great story. All of us love the musical on broadway and were looking forward to seeing this opening day. Five big time thumbs down. Maybe expectations were too high. Hathaway is great but obviously not in it very much. Major letdown overall.
We didn't expect much from Django, although I am a big fan. We all walked out there shocked how much we all loved it. Violent as HELL, but great movie. Definitely not for everyone but five big time thumbs up on that one.

My wife loves this stuff as well (thank god my mom and her have season tixs to the Civic Center) so I don't have to endure this type of stuff.

Re: Family double-feature today: Les Miserables and Django Unchained
The thing im worried about with Django is that it is a "black" western. When I saw Tarintino was making a western I got all excited until I found out who the lead was. My question is, is it time period correct where Fox acts like everyone else did back then? Or does he act all like "ahhhh hell naw, I know you didnt just shoot my horse"?

I don't exactly understand the question but I thought it was pretty good!,
Hilton Coliseum was specifically built to hold in sound with a solid concrete structure, steel doors, and a crowd that sits just a few feet from the court. With a fan base that frequently ranks among the nations largest crowds, players from opposing teams, as well as Iowa State, have said that the floor has shaken due to the loudness of the crowd -

I don't exactly understand the question but I thought it was pretty good!, HAHA, that is what I mean. Obviously someone from that time period (black or white) wouldnt call someone a hillbilly. I was wondering if they were trying to make it "hip" and "cool" by using modern day way of speaking ect.
Ill prob still go see it.

I guess I don't know what you expect from a QT movie. The dialogue from Inglorious Bastards doesn't fit into the WWII era but the movie is still excellent. QT doesn't make movies to be historically accurate and to me that is part of what makes them great.
So I guess what I am saying is if you like IB, reservoir dogs, pulp fiction ect.... You will like Django (the d is silent). If you didn't then I would recommend staying away from this.
edit: thanks for the heads up on Le Mis.

Saw Django today. It was unbelievably awesome. N word was used a lot but the gore was appropriate. I loved it. Badass movie.

Re: Family double-feature today: Les Miserables and Django Unchained
It is definitely not cartoony. Jaime Fox's character was pretty intense the whole movie with not much humor to him at all. Very good movie. A few scenes were hard to watch though just from the aspect of what people do to eachother (wrestling scene).
