    Kingland purchases several campustown buildings

Will be interesting to see what they do with all of these buildings, they plan to expand their operations in Ames as ISU and Ames are a critical part of their growth plans. This is about a half block area, would be pretty crazy if they redeveloped all of it to house their expansion as I believe some of these buildings currently have bars, restaurants, or other businesses in them.

You can see the properties purchased here (pretty sure one of them is currently Charlie Yoke's): Real Estate Transfers: Dec. 22 | Ames Tribune

    This seems terrible.

Agreed. Cant think its a good thing that more of that area would be turning into offices.

From the story, it doesn't seem like all the buildings purchased will be used to house their expansion. I wonder how many will be though, and what will happen with the others (maybe they will fix them up and bring in better bars/restaurants?).

Unless they know there is further development that will be bringing parking ramps or something like that. I could see where it would be ok, but if the corner of Lincoln Way and Welch is a corporate office and not a bar, then that is really, really sad.

This would be terrible. This would mean Charlie Yokes, Chicha shack, Angie's, and Jeff's would all be closed? This would be awful for campustown

When you frame it that way, it sounds absolutely awful. I've never been to Charlie Yokes but I like all the others.

Maybe those places would just squeeze out ******** places in Campustown by moving into the old Es Tas and MoJazz locations?

Add cocost, 114 welch ave, to that list as well. It looks like pretty much everything in that front row along lincoln way between stanton and welch.

This would be bad. Very bad. I also can't imagine that it's cost effective for them to expand business there but I suppose with readily available cheap labor all around it is probably somewhere they can hire cheaper than anywhere else and have a constant supply of people to work there.
    I'm on Twitter too: Tre4ISU

    Or so I have read.

Crazy. Good to see businesses grow and hopefully, in some in-direct way, this will lead to an improvement of campustown. Not sure it will...

I've really enjoyed Charlie Yokes. They are at capacity pretty much every mug night and most weekend nights. It was also much better than Headliners during its final years.

That would be bad. In a period of time where I thought a lot of big staples in Campustown were closing (Hometeam, Peoples, etc), Angie's and Jeff's were actually very good additions. If so, hopefully the fill in space elsewhere in campustown.

Life will go on folks. If there is one constant about businesses in Campustown, it is that they change frequently.

But replacing bars and restaurants with a software company that a majority of the student population won't give a **** about is a good alternative?

When you phrase it like that...I realize I am old. I've never heard of these places.
