If you waited until now to start your comet worshiping cult, it might not be too late.
Incoming Comet ISON Now Visible in Binoculars
Ison is now so close to the sun you will have a hard time seeing even a wisp of the tail as the sun rises. Of the comets I have seen, Comet West back in 1975 was tops. As Ison swings pass the sun (at 224 miles/second!) it's path will transit into the northern skies close to Earth. In early December Ison may be seen still in the morning and should be prime. Below is a good shot of what I feel it looked like prior to sun approach.
Saw a cool show on PBS other night about comet ISON. It rounds the sun on the 28th. most experts thought it wouldn't make the trip. be cool to see though. Did you not see Hale Bopp ? Way cool except for the Heavens Gate people.
Here is Comet West it reached over one-quarter the way from horizon to zenith and was at it best in March 1976.
ISON is no more. NASA's SOHO satellite watched it break apart and disappear near sun.

EDIT: Yup... looks like most of it has disintegrated in it's close encounter.
Goodbye comet ISON, hope your remains don't rain on me. Comet West huh? I would have been junior in hs shoulda remembered something like that but I had just discovered the wonders of Mary Jane.
It fought the sun and the sun won? Oh well, there's still the neighbor's yard lights on the southeast horizon...
