But seriously, I'm nowhere near as tech-savvy as most people on this board so somebody shoot this idea down if necessary but, have you tried to reboot in safe mode with networking and then do a system restore? You have to pick a date to restore your system back to. I've used this a few times with different error messages/ problems with success. That's about as much as I know how to do though.

I'd unplug your computer from the wall, wait 15 seconds, and then plug it back in.

I have tried to restore to at least five different points about a week before I had this problem, every time I get an error in the restore.

Tried, it told me I had 79% battery remaining.

Step One, Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

Step Two is Virus Scan, I'm almost positive this is not my problem.

In most cases, once a profile is pooched there is nothing you can do to repair it. It may work for a couple days but bugs will show up and files and applications will become unresponsive. Some of the newer malware is real fun stuff, it will change permissions on files and will also hide all of your stuff. This is where that fix I mentioned will help, if this is the case.
