Any Snowmobilers out there?
I haven't ever seen anything on here about snowmobiling. I was just curious how many others on CF rode.

Re: Any Snowmobilers out there?
Every few years I head up to Northern Wisconsin and ride with family, not much in Iowa.

Re: Any Snowmobilers out there?
I was invited to go at lake ponderosa this weekend, but instead going to take my 6 year old skiing for his first attempt at 7 Oaks
Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, "It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than selfish and worry about my liver."

Re: Any Snowmobilers out there?
My ex girlfriend, from Minnesota, had always talked about taking me snowmobiling during Christmas break 2 years ago. We broke up a week before.... Still hold a grudge to this day and how I never got the chance.

Ran into a tree Dec 21 1999; broke my wrist. Skidded on pavement Dec 21 2000 and broke my wrist. Saw friend fall off into a rock Dec 23 2001. Needless to say it's been 11 years since Ive touched one.

Re: Any Snowmobilers out there?
I ride as much as possible in Iowa, and try to take a couple trips to Wyoming every year.

Re: Any Snowmobilers out there?
If I lived in the country I'd have one. I hate trailering any toy.
When I was young and lived in the country we would just pull them out of the garage and take off, which is the best. Same for ATV's.
I'd love to try one of the new ones out. The last ones I rode were JD 440's.

Re: Any Snowmobilers out there?
I did when I was younger, and now that I moved back to northeast Iowa, I plan on doing a lot more. My old man has a couple sleds, and there is a great trail network in this part of the state. We just need about 4-5 more inches of wet snow, and it will be great conditions. Sounds like next weekend is going to deliver us just what we need.

I'd love to try one of the new ones out. The last ones I rode were JD 440's. We used to have two JD Trailfires and a Sportfire. Actually got one running about 5 years ago. It is amazing how unstable those things are compared to the new sleds now in comparison. I felt like I was going to tip over the entire time on the short spin i took. But those things were built like tanks. Amazed at how many terraces, etc I jumped those things off of and never had one thing break on them.

This is kind of a silly statement. Prior to last year, we were getting record snowfalls. From 2007-2011 we had a string of hardcore winters that rival pretty much anything we "used" to get. Last year wasn't much of a winter, and this year is fairly dry (but cold), but there's been plenty of snow in Iowa over the past decadeish.
