"Hold on I'm watching this" gets me everytime
I see everybody else is posting TV commercials, but as any of my fellow Eastern Iowa residents know, the McGrath radio commercials in Cedar Rapids are atrocious. Awful impressions of past presidents and Obama/Romney during the campaign. I'd rather shut my radio off, lest I take my rage out on other drivers.
The worst for me is the GEICO "Words with Friends" pig spoof. I want to kick that pig in the face for being such an annoying self-important pile of garbage.
Also, I loved the first round of AT&T kid commercials (Tape a Cheetah to her Back and Two Lasers) but the new round falls flat to me. The first round seemed somewhat genuine, but the second round seems highly staged. Plus, the jokes are not nearly as funny.
I have to disagree, at least partially. Some of those impressions were actually very good, and hearing the George W impersonator talk about "'Merica's best holiday, Presdents Day" gave me a grin, at least the first six times I heard it. I do agree they went on waaaaaaaaaaaay too long - starting with the aforementioned President's Day ad last February and running all the way past the election into November.
I also believe they weren't just local ads. My daughter, who lives in Madison now, said she heard those presidential ads for a Kia dealer in Madison. So some ad agency came up with these spots and localized them for several different markets.
I would enjoy seeing Maxwell the GEICO pig in one final ad, in which he's knocked in the head and then people enjoy a delicious meal of ham, bacon and sausage. Good gravy, that pig is irritating. And why does GEICO have so many different ads? The pig, the gecko, the blue-and-white stylized ads, the motorcyclist literally made out of money, and the two d-bags with their mandolins talking about how happy GEICO makes people. Arrgh!
How about the radio commercial for Chicken Shack (?) that has the lady changing her voice to create new characters. "What do you feel like? Well I don't know, what do you feel like?..."
I much prefer Flo from Progressive over the zoo that Geico keeps in their bizarre assortment of commercials.
The best insurance person, however, is Mayhem.
Anything featuring Jim Bittner, GM for Charles Gabus Ford. Voice like chalk on a backboard.
He went to Jared! Pretty much all jewelry story commercials annoy the **** out of me. TV and radio. If I ever find myself in a dark alley with that Chuck Kuba guy...
Can't believe no one has mentioned J.G. Wentworth. Can't stand those stupid commercials. I also hate any commercial for a class action lawsuit!
