Re: Blackberry 10 Ports Apps
I have zero interest in Blackberry at this point. They waited too long to get on board with everyone else. I personally thing they are doomed.

Agreed. I'm not an IT guy but my IT buddies and co workers all have stated that BB used to be the go to because of their security. They are telling me now you can get Iphones, Windows Phones, and some Android phones to that same level of security for corporate uses. I just don't see people putting faith in a company that is about to fold when 3 other OS's will do what used to set BB apart and are part of much more stable companies. Someone in the IT world can probably clarify this better than I can.
At this point I see BB selling off it's technology to other companies in the future.
Re: Blackberry 10 Ports Apps
BB had a chance to survive if they would have made their technology for email and security work with other devices, instead they waited and Apple/Google caught up and flew right on by. BB is dead. The company will not exist 2 years from now.

Blackberry was great for awhile. I had a blackberry server that I managed that was rock solid, didnt love it, but it did its job with little worry....once I got the damn thing set up after many tears. What killed the whole thing, was their lack of a quality web experience and the need for a 3rd party server to make things work securely. You absolutely could not use Microsofts Activesync for exchange which was a huge bummer. If you sent an email from your phone, it would have to go through your blackberry, verizon (or the like), RIM's servers, the local blackberry server, your exchange server, and then to the recipient and vice versa. Too many hops and points of failure. It was ridiculous.
Re: Blackberry 10 Ports Apps
Do they have any new hardware plans?
For my work phone I'm due to get a new one but they've cut down our choices to 1 BB model for either At&t or Vzw. You can get an iPhone but they ding you for a $400 up charge.
This really makes me wonder what they will do. They won't allow Android due to security concerns but if BB is on the way out.

I only disagree with your last sentence. The company has enough cash in reserves to last longer than 2 years.

But why would you want to if things arent looking great. Sell off your patents and move on.
Re: Blackberry 10 Ports Apps
My company of 20,000 employees switched from BB to IPhones about 6 months ago.

How many users? I would guess it was sizable.

Same here. I have a droid because I was being used as a test goat when moving away from BB but will be switching to an Iphone within the next couple months as Android doesn't offer the level of security they are looking for.

Re: Blackberry 10 Ports Apps

Because they are still by far the preferred provider globally. Also, I'm not sure the US government has approved use of any smart phone but a BB yet for its employees.
