Of course Des Moines technically has an international airport. But really, who would be fool enough to think you're a non-stop away from any exotic overseas locale flying out an airport where your concourse choices are Left or Right?
It's like all the little colleges that added one grad school class and changed their name from Fudpucker College to Fudpucker University.
John Q. Passenger can't even fly to Canada from Des Moines without a connecting flight, or a near-sighted pilot that overshoots Detroit and lands in Toronto.
It's a marketing gimmick.
