Need another drama series to watch
When Christmas break started, I began watching Breaking Bad on Netflix. I've been hooked since and love the show. I've never watched any of these drama series shows on TV. But now I'm almost through with Breaking Bad, so what should I watch next? And just so you know, the Walking Dead is not an option. I tried that one and couldn't get into it. I just have never gotten into the whole zombie thing.
I've got "Prison Break", "Jericho", "Downton Abbey", and "Hell on Wheels" all in my queue right now. It appears that "Fringe" isn't on instant streaming yet, so I won't be able to watch that one yet.
Any of these, or any others, that you'd recommend I watch first? I tend to like more realistic shows versus sci fi, etc. I think that's what I didn't like about Walking Dead. I don't really believe in zombies running around the Earth, so I didn't care for that one. But I'm loving Breaking Bad, since you could easily see something like that story play out in real life.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: Need another drama series to watch
I'm a few episodes into Hell on Wheels and I'm not that impressed. It didn't really tell much of the story of how the character got to where he was. I was confused until I read the wiki page for a little bit of context.
It's one of those shows that has a lot of scenes in the dark with whispering and it's tough for me to follow. I'm probably going to give it up.
I tried Breaking Bad and then quit an episode or two in. Seems like I'm in the minority on this one, I'll probably give that another shot.

I got really hooked on the show itself but I hate almost all the characters. The only person I sort of like is Jesse, he's the only one with a heart at all, IMO.
Also interested in a new series to watch. I rented season 1 of Walking Dead but haven't started it yet.

The Killing is really good but it's pretty heavy subject matter. I think only the first season is on netflix.

I've heard that Breaking Bad starts off pretty slow but gets better into the first season and beyond.
I'd give Homeland or Game of Thrones a watch. Pretty good shows.

If you liked Breaking Bad give Mad Men a shot.

I'd give Homeland or Game of Thrones a watch. Pretty good shows. This is true. The first season was very slow. If I hadn't heard that it got better before I started watching it, I probably would have stopped.

Jericho is good once you survive the first few episodes. They really had a good show going for the last season and a half.

Also interested in a new series to watch. I rented season 1 of Walking Dead but haven't started it yet. Yeah, I like Jesse as well. Seems like a good kid really, if he would have never gotten into drugs. Also is very intelligent. Everyone treats him like a stupid drug addict, but he is a lot smarter than that.
I wouldn't necessarily say that the Walter White character doesn't have a heart though? He didn't get into making meth for himself, it was so he could take care of his family better with all the huge medical bills he was going to be dealing with financially. He figured he would die sometime soon and leave his family behind with a TON of medical bills they could never afford to pay.
So he started this whole thing because of his big heart I think, but as he got deeper into it, then I think you are right, it all became about him.
I forgot about "Homeland", I think I might add that one to my list too. Also, thanks to whoever suggested Mad Men. I might try that one too.
"Downton Abbey" looks like something I could NEVER get into, but everyone seems to love it. Just doesn't seem like my cup of tea at all?
How about "Prison Break"? Anyone think that was really good?

LOST. I know you said you're into realistic stuff, but LOST if pure gold. Give it a shot.

Downton Abbey is awesome. Very good British period piece.

But seriously, thanks for mentioning that Prison Break is a really long series. Not sure I want to get started into that one if it's that long and not really all that great.
