If you and your "friend" like pizza, Great Plains Sauce & Dough comes highly recommended. It's a very unique pizza and they have decent beer and a nice environment.
Black Market Pizza is the ****.

Wallabys. I'm pretty surprised no one has said that yet. It's easily the most underrated restaurant in Ames. I LOVE Hickory Park though. You can never go wrong with that...
