Good places to ice fish around Ames

Does anyone know of any good places to ice fish in the Ames area?

I'm down in Des Moines so I have never fished any of these places, but I fish a lot and know they are mentioned quite a bit. Ada Hayden, McFarland Pits and Hickory Grove are the ones I know of. This site will help you: Where to Fish, good luck, be safe. Ice is good most places, but still a wierd winter and some open water.

There are a few guys out on the pond behind perfect games and west towne pub right now...

Theyre stocking ada hayden with 2000k or so trout this coming saturday.

This would be my choice although it is a little drive from Ames, the other two would be fine as well though and would be very close.

There is an ice fishing contest today.... Lots of prizes ! Nice bass and crappies in that lil pond

I watched a little girl with a barbie pole pull a 35" northern out of there at a jax fishing day. There's been all types of interesting things put in there
