Re: whitehouse.gov petition to make Super Bowl Monday national holiday
I'm all for disenfranchising people who sign this petition.
I was a victim of a series of accidents, as are we all. -

My birthday should be a national holiday.

What really should happen is the NFL moves the game to Saturday, especially with 2 weeks in between the Conference title games and the Super Bowl.

Wouldn't matter for me... Last Monday was a National Holiday, and I still had to show up for work, the same way I will on President's Day, Flag Day, Columbus Day, and Veteran's Day. I am pretty certain the corporate machine would not give me the day off on Super Bowl Monday just to be hung over.

This Presidency has more to worry about. But I wouldn't put it past him to concentrate on this petition.

The Army gets Monday off. It is pretty much a national (hungover) holiday for us.

Re: whitehouse.gov petition to make Super Bowl Monday national holiday
If the Redskins win the Superbowl it's a holiday for the Federal Employees in DC. At least it was the last time it happened. As a Federal Employee at Rock Island IL I thought maybe we'd have gotten the day off on the Monday after the Bears won it (/sarc).

Anyone can have that day off if they want it. It's called vacation.

Not sure why we can't just remove "Columbus Day" and make Monday following the superbowl a day off
this is a great idea

Re: whitehouse.gov petition to make Super Bowl Monday national holiday
So let me get this straight; somebody was dumb enough to start a petition to make a holiday of a day that honors nothing but those who drank themselves stupid the night before? Well, then why isn't every Friday after "Thirsty Thursday" a national holiday? Hell, even FAC should be a national holiday. This petition has all kinds of fail in it.

this is a great idea I would much rather just have it on Saturday. They have 12 days to prepare, and nobody plays in both the Pro Bowl and the Super Bowl. I know my firm will not grant any new holidays; we get the bare minimum as it is.
