I've heard plenty of comments about how we are animal-abusing, backwards, uneducated, stupid redneck hicks. The further removed the general public becomes from agriculture, the less they understand or care about it.

Ya I don't necessarily care too much about the day to day stuff, but I appreciate the importance of farmers in the same way I do any profession.

Loved it! Make's me miss the Midwest and work ethic that comes with the great people of the Midwest. Nothing is guaranteed and farmers take great risk to provide for their family.

Lol, I must have missed where I said I'm not appreciative or thankful for the work farmers do.

If you can find proof that I said that, please show. I merely have the opinion its a marketing money grab similar to ANF that U of Iowa did.

I don't know that they receive any more crap than any other profession. Lawyers get a bad rap. Government employees get a bad rap. Teachers do too.

I got to see my Dad (the farmer) tonight and asked him if he saw the commercial. He rolled his eyes and said that the reading is nice sentiment, but that farmers as a group are no better or worse than any other group.

My Mom (the farmer's wife who also grew up on a farm and did not want to marry a farmer, but ended up doing it anyway) thought that it was even more stupid than my Dad did.

To my Hawkeye friends, they tried making a 'God made a lawyer' commercial, but it didn't test well. Coach Rhoads said no to ANL stickers for the Cyclone helmets next year.
