Pretty much my 7 year old take on the Kennedy Assassination and follow-on coverage; which if my memory serves correctly was a full 2 weeks. And there was no cable, VCR, DVDs, internet - just 3 networks with wall-to-wall coverage so no escaping it. Not even the Beverly Hillbillies, my favorite! A kid can only stand so much talking heads - no matter how significant the historical event.

I wonder how much coverage there was during the Reagan assassination attempt, since it wasn't successful.

I remember when Desert Storm happened, CNN was on at our house, 24/7. I was in middle school or so, I wanted to watch MTV.

That's interesting to think about - all of the big political events that happened when we were little, and what we thought of them. I remember the Challenger exploding and the Berlin Wall coming down, those were both just enormous.

I remember as a kid thinking if I looked into a tv peripherally I would see the entire smurf village. I also thought I had instant DVR service in the early 1980's and I'd be so angry the TV program I was watching didn't pause when I turned it off.

I remember my wife (girlfriend then) complaining that General Hospital was interrupted for days because of the assassination attempt. Then someone tried to kill the Pope two months later, and it started all over again.

me neither. But we had a farm, so I figured it out by the time I hit double digits anyway. Though before I had my first date with my now-husband, she decided to sit me down and have this talk about teenagers and their hormones and how I don't want to end up pregnant. I'm just thinking mooooooooooooooooom stop talllllking. Then during our date, I'm thinking to myself, "I wonder if those hormones are going to go crazy on him and he's going to jump on me or something".

A couple weeks later she wants to have another talk about birth control. I was so tempted to be like, wait what, what is that for? How do babies get made? And make her do the birds and bees talk but I decided I didn't really want to sit through that.

Your mom wanted to put you on birth control two weeks after your first date?
