Enterprise screwed me. Do I have any recourse?
I rented a car while mine was being repaired. I picked it up on Wed. Jan. 30th in the middle of a snowstorm. Cedar Rapids declared a snow emergency and all area schools were closed. The guy who checked me out said because the car was covered in snow and they couldn't do a proper checkout, I wouldn't be charged if there were any scratches when I brought it back. This part is my fault: I didn't make sure he wrote it on the rental agreement.
I returned the car today. Before doing so I washed it, just because I'm a nice guy. Guess what? They claimed I caused a scratch on the hood. I became upset, told them what I had been told at the time of rental. I asked them to call the guy who rented me the car and guess what? He doesn't work there anymore. At this point the employee told me there was no snow on the day I rented the car. Would anyone care to look up what the weather was like on January 30th in CR? I asked if he was calling me a liar and he said yes, there was no snow on that day.
I became irate. I have never made a scene or sworn at someone in a place of business in my life but being called a liar to my face set me off. I called him every name in the book and dropped f-bombs like they were going out of style. (There were no other customers present.) I was asked to leave the business. I called him a ******* *** hole one more time and stormed out.
I assume they will charge my credit card on file for the rental and the damage.
Question: Do I have any recourse? I'm assuming that because I failed to get the agent's statement in writing that I might be ****ed.
I emailed the branch manager, recounted the situation sticking completely to the facts and apologized for my behavior. I also provided evidence from Weather Underground and proof that schools were closed, the city declared a snow emergency and that his employees were wrong to call me a liar. I don't know if it will do any good or not. I assume after my tirade that they'll look for any and every way to **** me now.

Keep complaining - I returned a car at the named rental place three weeks ago at an airport with a full tank of gas that I had just filled up on the way over
noticed on my bill I got emailed later that day i was charged for 7 gallons of gas at about $5 a gallon "are you ******* kidding me?"
called and ******* about 10 seperate and finally got a credit on my CC statement. I suggest you do the same

You did the right thing in emailing the branch manager with your story and the apology. If you don't get satisfaction there, keep going up the chain. Eventually you'll be too big of a pain in the *** and you will get something even if it isn't all you deserve.

In the time you took to write that you could have cancelled your credit card? Just an idea which may not work either.

Good idea but I don't want to stoop to their level and play games. Plus, I'm assuming if they don't get paid for what they're entitled to, which is nine days of rental, I could be on the hook for some type of fraud or theft.

Get a Weather report or news story from that day. "Dont take no for an answer from someone that couldn't have told you yes to begin with." Learned this quote a long time ago.

Here you go: Snow day | TheGazette Tyler Lovell, 6, of Cedar Rapids pulls his sled up the hill at Jones Park on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 30, 2013, in southwest Cedar Rapids. Around 6 inches of snow fell in Cedar Rapids. (Liz Martin/The Gazette-KCRG) ∞ -

Even though the employee called you a liar, you should never swear at them. That will get you nowhere. You should have asked for a manager immediately. If the manager does nothing, then you say you will call the regional manager or corporate. This will usually get their attention. Trust me, I have seen managers get fired for not accommodating customers concerns and then customers complain to corporate.

Yeah, I think rux already said he kind of blew it by yelling and calling names. Help him get it fixed from this point on.
