We also indulged in Cards Against Humanity coupled with a ridiculous amount of bacon.
Good thing it's not Sausage Fest. Hawk fans would be everywhere.
For those that attended, what was your favorite items? My list...
1. Bacon Taco with hot sauce - El Chisme
2. Bacon Gumbo - Jethro's
3. Bacon Explosion Sandwich - ???
Best Alternative Protien Sandwich:Trostel's Trio Templeton Rye Elk & Bacon Slider, although the Elk was well done the sandwich won for being different
Something Different: Trostel's Trio "Man Candy" which was small cubed fat back bacon with brown sugar
Best Corp Bacon: Farmland ( they did a good job having alll 4 sides of their booth serving bacon free will all day
Best Local Bacon: Corwith Locker (Damn good piece of meat) You can buy this product through their website
Didn't go till after 1:30 so I could let the crowd get drunk and filled with food, as there was minimal food lines.
Lastly I will say the sound system sucked and that was the only downer to the day.
It sounded like it was run a little different this year. Sounds like you had to have tickets for each bacon entree? Did that help the lines?
USA! USA! USA!
Dude? Don't diss The Snacks. They played "War Pigs" (It's the Bacon Fest, that song should be mandatory), but they also did a good cover version of "Gin & Juice", and Rod Stewart's "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy".
Definitely the best "cover band that plays keyboards and drums only" outfit in Iowa, if not the whole Upper Midwest.
I love bacon & booze as much as (if not more than) the next guy, but this just seems like a bit of a ripoff to me.
$35 gets you in & a few bacon entree tickets, maybe a couple drink tickets (? not sure if these were included or not) & unlimited free normal bacon. My roommate said he spent $60 while there just on drinks & additional entree tickets.
He said the atmosphere was a LOT of fun & he looks forward to going again, just doesn't sound worth $100 to me. His favorites were bacon crab rangoon & the Templeton Rye "seminar".
Meh. I bought a pound of bacon at the store for $5 and drank my own beer. :nerd6bs:
