One of my cows had to be put down, and on one of the ride-alongs, we had to pull a dead calf.......and it came out in pieces. That kinda clinched it for me that I wouldn't be able to do it. I never wanted it to feel "routine" to put down someone's pet.
Yeah, and the classes those kids have to take are pretty brutal.
Truly loving animals involves taking responsibility to know what's best for them (taking a stillborn calf) or when it's time to stop their suffering.
*or...as my dream job might dictate...when they'd make deee----licious bacon...

I get that - and we had to do so several times on the farm, but it was a real turning point to realize that I probably wouldn't be able to compartmentalize it the way I would need to. How many times would I have to put down some little kid's pet? That old man's dog still bothers me. The owner was an elderly widower in town and the dog was at least 13 or so - had lived a good life, but I couldn't stop thinking how sad that was for the owner.
Oh! The other thing - people who are just STUPID about animals. I would see the vets be so diplomatic about situations where the owner caused injury to their animals or had them in poor living conditions. I would want to beat those dumbasses over the head, but I wouldn't be able to. So yeah, I realized I didn't have the people skills either, lol.

The person that puts together "the last time..." crazy statistics for sporting (mainly football) events. Example, the last time a QB ran for X amount of yards in Y Quarter was 20XX or 19XX. Learning SAS in my current job, so it's a footstep!

I worked industrial and assembly line jobs through high school and college and if I could support my family, would do that in a minute. No worthless meetings, few surprises, and at the end of the day, you go home and don't think about work anymore.

I wanted to be the 2nd baseman for the LA Dodgers growing up. Davey Lopes could have a seat because I was taking over.
