I totally understand that, which is why I'm personally trying to see if it could be moved to the social group.
However - I understand that the posters involved got that it was a joke. But rulzzz clearly didn't take it that way. The people who reported it didn't take it that way. I don't think that potential new members or new advertisers would take it that way, either.
We obviously try to keep CF cleaner than the next guy - you can look at other forums in the state of Iowa and see why. That's why we thrive as a site, because it's an overall great place to come. And we want it to be fun for everyone. I think there's a middle ground here, we just need it to be reached by everyone.
Yeah... Well I understand your explanation, but don't agree with the decision to shut it down. If talking about "roosters" was too vulgar, then delete the comments. Maybe someone shouldn't talk about hot dogs any more as well? And I bet if you asked every poster involved, they'd share that everything they said was meant to be funny and not degrading to anyone in any way.
A good portion of why it was closed wasn't because of the idea of the threads. It would have been shut down from the beginning if it were. People couldn't handle the idea. There was a ton of trolling and complaining/attacking, both in public and in private. And the voting threads themselves became cesspools - and it hadn't even started yet. There was vulgarity that was reported by tons of members. A warning was posted and disregarded.
You have an 8 page thread on wiping *** so spare me. There haven't been any complaints on that? This is all not to mention that this was in the gaming forum where people would have the option to opt out.
Meh, it was a good idea. Though there was not enough bandwidth to contain the butthurt. I think there's been too much fluff recently that's deterring from the basketball content. Some fluff is ok but it's gotten a little overboard recently. Jmo. Lets talk about the game Wednesday!
