Metro area bar ideas for a suprise bday party?
I'm looking for ideas for a bar/restaurant that has a separate rent able room. I'd order appetizers thru the bar for the party, so a place that has good food would be a prerequisite.
Somewhere downtown-ish, Ingersoll, East Village, etc.
It would be in May, so even outdoor possibilities welcome.
Yes, I know the first response will most likely be the Lumberyard or Outer Limits...

Can't think of any places in your preferred areas off the top of my head, but if a little further west is possible I'd recommend The Keg Stand. Sounds like you described it to a T.

I know you can rent rooms at Court Ave, I imagine you can do the same at Raccoon River. Isn't there a side room at Hessen Haus?

I believe The Garden would make it a huge surprise

Yes, I know the first response will most likely be the Lumberyard or Outer Limits... I know Dos Rios has a nice room you can rent. Comes with your own private bar.

Gramercy Tap, the former Kirkwood Lounge has a cool table upstairs, I am not sure how many it fits... 16ish maybe, call them at 288-9609 Downstairs of Sbrocco can be rented/used and Shortys is downstairs too, their # 282-3663. My breakfast club had our holiday party at both, apps at Sbrocco & dinner @ Gramercy, both were/are great.

Centro on Locust has a rentable room. Cheaper to rent Mon. thru Thurs. Prices will include food and beverage. Room also has full sound/projector system.

Exile Brew I believe has an upstairs room as well that can be rented.

Never thought of Shortys. I had heard Star Bar might be a good place to check into.

Raccoon river has a decent upstairs room with pool tables. Check into that. It could be like $700 minimum, though.
